This artwork is created on professionally primed fiberboard (Masonite) — a durable surface carefully prepared to preserve the painting for years to come. The board has been treated with a custom primer to seal and protect it from warping or deterioration over time.
Multiple layers of acrylic underpainting were applied using a traditional tempera-inspired method, providing a rich base of tone and depth. Subtle glazes were added in watercolor-like washes, followed by refined details and highlights painted with oil techniques.
To ensure long-term preservation, the entire surface was finished with a protective linen-textured varnish layer, adding both a tactile quality and additional sealing.
This multi-technique approach, rooted in classical traditions, gives the work a unique luminosity and a timeless feel — echoing the methods of the Old Masters while using modern, archival materials. A classical still life inspired by Edward Ladell, painted using a layered technique reminiscent of Leonardo da Vinci’s approach.
Rich textures, warm tones, and a delicate interplay of light and shadow bring to life ripe peaches, grapes, and whitecurrants — each detail carefully built up through many translucent acrylic layers on a specially primed hardboard.
Originally created as an academic study, this piece now stands on its own as a decorative and collectible work, blending Old Master influence with contemporary craftsmanship.
